Stora Hammarsjön

Stora Hammarsjö area's largest lake - a beautiful lake with high angling value and great development opportunities.

Stora Hammarsjön is a real wilderness lake and is a bit of a character lake for the whole area. It is varied with seven islands, great depths, shallow bays and several inflows and outflows. These factors create an exciting fishing lake. The lake is southwest of Hultsfred and can be found via the signage to the Stora Hammarsjö area west of Hultsfred off road 34. The lake is nutrient-poor and is mainly surrounded by coniferous forest. Around the lake in the northern part is a lot of stone and coniferous forest and in the northwest there is a domain reserve consisting of a ridge with oak forest. In some places around the lake, rocks with adjacent pores and pine forests dominate.

In other areas there are moss fields with cataracts, squash, birch and pine. All bottom types are represented in the lake with dominance of dye and gravel. The water vegetation is sparse and consists of water lilies, leaf reed, water clover and sap. In the northern part of the lake are various accommodation options and a beautiful and popular swimming area with wind protection and barbecue area. In the southern part of the lake, at the road bank, there is a windshield, barbecue area and disabled fishing.

You can do a variety of sport fishing in the lake. Pike fishing is good along the northern edge and down to the western edge. In these areas, it is good to spin fishing with spoons and vobblers at 2-3 meters depth. A good distance for pike is at the road bank in the south. The pike is also good for ice cream and there is a great chance of fish over 10 kg. The perch can be found all around the lake, but good places are in the northwest where you can feed and pimple. You can do the meta bream north of the bathing area with bottom mites and baits like worm, maggot and corn.

Trout fishing is a top interesting fishing where there is a chance of really big trout over 5 kg. SFK Kroken has been putting out trout for a long time and these are very large today. Trout can be fished around the islands, in the area opposite the bath and off the handicap bridge in the south. Both fly and spin work and a good time for this fishing is summer evenings and early autumn. Probably the trout eat a lot of fish in the lake, so it is good to fish with fish-like spoons and vobblers in blue and silver. For fly fishing, the same flies work as for the rainbow waters.

For trout and pike fishing, it is good to rent a boat to be able to search larger areas on the lake. Stora Hammarsjön is not an easy-fishing lake, but with a little outreach and persistence you will sooner or later find the fish.
