Hulingen is a fine bird lake and an excellent resting place for moving birds in autumn and spring.
The hollow has a distinctly smooth lake character with extensive leaf reed areas, especially in the southern parts.
The southern part of Hulingen is largely designated as a bird sanctuary. Here you can see, among other things, pipe drum, brown marsh hawk, beard knife, mallard, teal, windblown, beard dipping, coot, swan, song swan, canada goose and gray goose. Osprey does not breed at the lake but comes regularly and fishes. In the spring, the lake is also visited by spoon, yacht and saddle crack.
The best observation sites for southern Hulingen and Lönekullaviken are at one of the two towers. You will reach the north via the village of Järnudda. To the south tower you come via Målilla towards Hagelsrum.

Bird tower
You can get to the southern tower located on a headland in southern Lönnekullaviken by taking road 34 south from Hultsfred towards Målilla. In Målilla, drive east at the roundabout and left again inside Målilla at the next small roundabout, towards Hagelsrum. After a few kilometers you come to Hagelsrum, which you pass through. After about 1,5 km you will come to Stighult and soon after you go to the left/north with the sign "Paradiset" where you turn off. You will eventually come down to Huling's meadows, where there are often geese and cranes, and after another kilometer or so through the forest, you will arrive at a turnpike where you can park. From here, a marked path leads out onto the headland, which stretches north. A nice walk out to the tower is guaranteed.
