The company Hembygdsförening (Virserum's culture and association centre) was formed in 2017. The old furniture industry area was falling into disrepair and some enthusiastic Virserum residents were keen to save the area from decay. The area is today a very popular destination as there are museums, an art gallery, café, herb garden, playground, conference rooms, etc. All work in the area is done on a non-profit basis.

In 2023, the Company's local community association and Virserum's local community association merged. The new association now has responsibility, in addition to the activities at the company area, also for the Hembygdsparken with buildings and objects as well as the archive which stores countless old photos, documents, newspaper articles etc.
