Lake Deer is located just west of Virserum, near Lake Virserum Lake with which it is also connected. The lake is nutrient-poor and the water is slightly brown in color. This is due to the surrounding woodland. The surrounding area consists largely of coniferous forests and the beaches are rocky. In the eastern part of the lake there is also deciduous forest. The bottom material in the lake consists of varying dyes, gravel and blocks and the vegetation in the lake is sparse and consists of rigs, leaf reeds, water lilies and saplings. Three islands are located in the central / eastern part.

Fishing along the beaches is quite difficult so the best thing is to have access to a boat available for hire. Spawning fishing is what is most interesting in the lake and a good method is to tow vobblers after the boat along deep slopes in the evenings and mornings. Good colors on vobblers for geese are scary colors such as red, yellow, white and green, preferably vobblers with so-called rattlesnakes that create sound in the water. In the lake, large pike are regularly caught over 5 kg. The latest release of pike in the lake was made in 2009. Good areas for pike fishing are between the two largest islands where great depths are found as well as in the northwestern part.
Otherwise, there are large pike that are happy to take on spin fishing and fishing. Good places for pike are in the bay outside Mörtefors as well as off the southern beach where deep slopes are found. The minimum size for pike and geese is 40 cm and you can only pick up 3 pike / geese per day. Trolling fishing is allowed and there are places where you can put your own boat. As the lake is not too large and with regard to other fishermen, it is recommended to use a maximum of 4 rods per boat. Goose is a very good and appreciated food fish. A gauze of one kilogram can be perfect to wrap in foil and put on the grill. At the lake, this becomes a taste experience that beats most things.
