Tips

  • The beginner: Learn how a flowing water works and where the fish can stand. Fishing "without a rod" can teach a lot.

  • Professional set: Locate the trout and catch it on a dry fly. Be afraid of the fish!

  • The discoverer: Along the river you can experience both fishing and nature in the best way. Be afraid of nature.

Fishing in Skärveteån and Narrveten

Skärveteån and a small part of Narrveten are part of Narveteåns Fiskevårdsområde. Fishing in Skärveteån is quite inaccessible on several stretches but offers all the greater challenges. In the upper part of the river there is a small road that you can walk on and fish by the river on the south side. Here you can try spin fishing with small spinners or angling with a float. For those who like fly fishing, it is possible in some parts to release a fly into the stream. It is important to sneak along the river so as not to scare the shy fish.

Trout are found in the river and the fish often stand behind rocks or in deeper holes where the river turns. The trout wants shade and prefers to stand where branches hang out over the river. There are some rules for trout fishing. You can catch a maximum of 3 trout per day card or per day with an annual card and the minimum size for trout is 30 cm. Fishing for trout may be conducted between 1 April and 30 December.

As a precaution, you should not disturb the trout during its spawning season, which begins in September, so preferably fish in the river earlier in the year. Trout stocks are sensitive in small rivers. Preferably fish according to the philosophy catch and release, which you can read about in this guide. On the lower stretch of the river from the bridge in Slagdala you can walk along the river and fish for pike with both spin and angling. Carp fish are also available that you can fish for and then a fishing rod comes in handy.

In Narrveten, fishing may be conducted on the fishing license in the part closest to the river's outlet (see map). Here you can fish for pike and perch with both spin fishing and angling. Large pike are found in the lake and try fishing with large spoon pulls in silver and copper. For the perch, spinners and jigs work well.
