Melsjön is a small shallow lake and the water is an extension of Gårdvedaån. It lies north of Lake Flaten west of Målilla and is part of Flatens FVO. The lake is shallow and has the character of a smooth lake with dense reeds in the form of leaf reed and sap. On the eastern side pine on the sandy soil dominates, on the southern side pores and willow bushes grow and the soil is more blocky. As the beaches are flat, the land is often flooded at high tide, which benefits the fish in the lake.

Tips
Fishing in Melsjön
Fishing is best from boat, but you can also find good landings. Pike and perch happily stick to the outside of the reeds around the lake. It is effective to spin fishing near vegetation. Ice cream and pimple winter time are good on the whole lake. Around the estuaries you can find pike and carp fish.
At the lake's vegetation areas, which are found mainly in the western and eastern part, fly fishing pike can be successfully used.
Large flies with feathers in silver, gold, red, white and yellow tend to be good. A thicker paw at the edge of the fly is needed so that the pike's teeth will not be able to scrape off the rope. Sarv can be fed from a boat in shallow and vegetation-rich areas with float and use maize or worm as bait.
