Great Åkebosjön

Stora Åkebosjön is located about 6 km west of Hultsfred and you will find it if you drive from road 34 through Hammarsebo towards Stora Hammarsjön. The lake is patchy with many bays and sound and it is poor in nutrients. Stora Åkebosjön is part of Stora Hammarsjön's FVO, surrounded mostly by coniferous forest and on the beaches, pors and birch grow.

Some beaches are rocky with rocky terrain and in some places around the lake there are marshes and bogs. Stora Åkebosjön's aquatic vegetation consists of cataracts, water lilies, pike nets and reedbeds. In the southern part of the lake is located Bjorn Isthmus. The area became a nature reserve in 1997. In the northern part of the lake there is an information board where you can turn in and park near the lake. There is also a windbreak and a boat dock. Stora Åkebosjön is an important bird lake with its variety.

Fishing for perch is good and it is a popular pimple lake. In the northern bay and in the area around the small island there are good areas for perch and sometimes the size of the fish is fine. You can rent a boat or fish from shore and the perch often goes fishing or spinning fishing. From land there are some places to access if you want to walk a bit.

Pike can be caught on spoons and surface vobblers. Ruda is found in the lake and the record of this exciting fish should be explored. In nearby Lilla Åkebosjön, a meteor is being run today and perhaps it is the larger row in Lake Åkebo. Floating after row can be done in the north.
