Albert Engström was one of the greatest cultural personalities in Swedish history. He was an artist, writer and cartoonist.

Albert was born on May 12, 1869, on the farm Bäckefall in Lönneberga parish. His childhood home, is located in a valuable agricultural environment. Make a visit to the farm where Albert Engström was born. In the garden there is a memorial stone remnant.

The bad times led them to sell the farm. The father took up a position within the Nässjö-Oskarshamn railway. His position was that of the stationmaster in Bohult. After a few years he was promoted to station inspector (stins). This time to Hult where the family settled for good.

Among other things, Engström studied art with Carl Larsson as a teacher. He will then become one of the foremost humorous cartoonists of his time. He was also active as an editor and writer. In 1922 he was elected to the Swedish Academy on chair no. 18. In 1927 he became a philosophy honorary doctor in Uppsala together with Bruno Liljefors

Albert Engström passed away on November 16, 1940. He turned 71 years old. He is buried in Hult's cemetery.
