Hultsfred Church, the municipality's largest town, actually has the youngest church. Plans to build a church in Hultsfred had existed for some time and in 1921 a cemetery was first laid out and then a burial chapel and a belfry were built.

Hultsfred's church was built during the years 1934-36 and was consecrated by Bishop Tor Andrae on Ascension Day in 1936. Stockholm architect Elis Kjellin was commissioned to design the church and succeeded in creating a modern church based on a classical pattern.

A large part of the church's furnishings such as pulpit, altar cabinets, benches and other furniture are contemporary with the church and were manufactured by furniture carpenters and wood manufacturers from Hultsfred's wood industries, which later became Hultsfred's House.

The decorations on the pulpit and the altar cabinet were designed by the artist Arvid Källström from Påskallavik, Oskarshamn.

Hultsfred's parish was from the beginning a part of Vena parish. It wasn't until 1955 that Hultsfred became its own parish. The pastorate was called the Vena-Hultsfred pastorate. At the pastorate regulation in 1962, Hultsfred's congregation became the mother congregation of the new Hultsfred-Vena pastorate. The vicar was placed in Hultsfred and the minister in Vena.

In 1991, the Lönneberga pastorate was merged with the Hultsfred-Vena pastorate and the pastorate is now called the Hultsfred-Vena-Lönneberga pastorate.

A commissioner is located in Lönneberga.
