Järnsjön is located just west of Järnforsen and is flooded by Emån. The lake is part of Järnforsens FVO. It is a shallow little lake and its surroundings are dominated by wetlands and farmland. The vegetation in the lake is dominated by sap and leaf reed. You find the lake either via the road between Järnforsen and Vetlanda or if you go to the church west of Järnforsen. If you pass the church there is a small bathing place where you can also park and put in a boat.
The Iron Lake is an important bird lake with valuable wetlands south of the lake. It has an interesting history as a polluted lake where environmental toxins were stored at the bottom from upstream activities. To restore the lake and get a better water quality to Emån, the lake was dredged in 1994, which has been positive for both the lake and the entire river downstream.

Tips
Fishing in the Iron Sea
Pike fishing is very good in the lake and it has caught pike over 13 kg and it is common with fish between 5 and 10 kg. Good methods are to spin fish with wobble along the edges or to feed with float and bait fish. Zaltwobbler in blue color is a good bait for the pike in the lake. Ice cream is also effective in the north.
Since the lake has a very even bottom and contains similar depth, you can find the fish a little everywhere. A little deeper catch is in connection with the estuaries where you can sometimes find the fish. Perch is found throughout the lake and you can catch it on spinners and jigs. Carp fish such as bream and roach can be fed in the estuary where Emån flows from the lake.
