Slagdala nature reserve, which is part of the Virserum ridge, is considered one of southern Sweden's most powerful ridge formations.
When the ice sheet receded some 10 years ago, the ridge was formed by melt water. It brought rocks and gravel into the ice tunnels and cracks. The area itself has a geological value. On the ridge, pine grows mainly.
In the northwest, there is plenty of pine plants and some single ones. The soil is covered by the grass species sheep swallow and red vein.
