Emilleden: A walk in Astrid Lindgren's footsteps
If you are a fan of Astrid Lindgren's books and films, or just want to experience the beautiful and varied nature of Småland, then Emilleden is a perfect choice for you. The Emilleden is a 40 kilometer long hiking trail that goes through forests, villages, fields and meadows in Mariannelund and Lönneberga. The trail is named after Emil i Lönneberga, one of Astrid Lindgren's most beloved characters, who lived on the farm Katthult nearby.
The start of Emilleden
The Emillen trail starts either from Mariannelund's homestead or Lönneberga homestead, where there are plenty of parking options and information about the trail. You can choose to walk the entire trail at once or split it into stages. The trail is marked with blue paint and signposted with a blue boot. It runs on both paved roads and trails, so it's good to have comfortable shoes and clothing suitable for different weather conditions.
Emilleden's scenic views
The Emillen Trail offers not only cultural history but also scenic views and exciting experiences. You can walk through beech forests with moss-covered rocks, over bridges over babbling brooks, along lake shores with sparkling water, past pastures with grazing cows and horses, through idyllic villages with red houses and white knots. You also get to pass the churches of our respective parishes, which connect the past with the present.
The Emilleden is a hike that is suitable for all ages and interests. It gives you the chance to discover the Småland countryside in a fun and active way while you get to follow in Astrid Lindgren's footsteps.
So what are you waiting for? Pack your backpack and set out on the Emilleden!
