Wolf pit in Slättemossa. It is an old trap for catching wolves located in Kalmar county, near Järnforsen. The wolf pit in Slättemossa was probably dug around the year 1700 and is carefully paved with stones. It has a depth of 2,4 meters and a diameter of 4,2 meters. It is one of the best preserved wolf dens in Sweden and an interesting example of how people tried to protect themselves from predators in the past.

The wolf pit in Slättemossa is located in a scenic area called Slättemossa, which is a large bog with rich flora and fauna. Here you can see many different plants, birds and insects, as well as enjoy the fresh air and the beautiful view. Lättemossa also has another geological attraction: the Klotbergartshällarna. It is a place where there is a rare type of rock called globular rock, which consists of small round stones stuck together. It is the only known place in Sweden where you can see this type of rock.
