Berit Emstrand lives in the Småland community of Mörlunda. If we ask her how long she has been painting, it is almost her whole life. Started at the age of 12 when she exchanged a picture for a pair of skis of the janitor at Mörlunda's elementary school Emådalskolan. After that, the natural step forward was to go to drawing school via correspondence. Afterwards took countless courses in painting for various active artists in the country.
Raised in Tigerstad, a small village outside Mörlunda. Already as a teenager, I was "dubbed" an artist by close family friends after painting an owl in watercolor and showing it to them. A small brooch shaped like a color palette was placed on my chest.
After art school, I applied to Konstfack. Was so close to 30 place to start but started an artistic business with the premise of always painting when creativity arises. That feeling is wonderful to feel free to paint without demands. Holding courses in watercolor both at the study association and soon within my art business as there will be room for it in my artist's house in my upcoming studio in Bockara. There I will furnish a new studio and hold permanent exhibitions.

I usually paint with watercolor, but acrylic and oil are no stranger to me. My motifs are representational with cranes, owls, moose and foxes. So also pictures where nature itself can stand as a painting.
My painting is built up from inner images that usually arise during the journey at the easel or my large flat work table. So wonderful to experiment with inner motives. So it is not always from something that exists from the beginning appears at the end of creation. It is an excitement/euphoria like a flow that is indescribable. So being an artist is a lifelong search.
My abstract side has shown itself occasionally. Color-drenched watercolor paper with prints and patterns where nature can be discerned.
