More kastell is a ravine in Småland located on the border between Hultsfred and Högsby's municipalities. Here in Småland's Grand Canyon's mighty landslides with rock shelves and running water, there is a fine flora of mosses and lichens.

More Castle is eight kilometers long, a fissure that has widened and deepened by the masses of water that formed when the ice sheet melted 12 years ago. East of the Trånshult Delta, all the material that the ice river brought with it ended up when the water masses washed away millions of tonnes of rock and stone from the Moredalen valley. Moredalen is known for its rich plant world of mosses and lichens.

If you climb down into the ravine, it feels like entering a damp basement. The cool environment differs from the dry pine forest above. Here you are suddenly surrounded by high mountain slopes. At the bottom of the valley flows the little Morån. In the middle of the narrow ravine, a 25 meter high cliff, More kastell, has defied the forces of erosion and remained.

The raven nests in the slopes and the crackling reinforces the feeling of desolation. Morån is a small watercourse that follows the fissure valley and empties into Emån by Ryngen. The river is home to brook trout and freshwater pearl mussels. There are two species that are interdependent.

The freshwater pearl mussel's larvae live for a time on the trout's gills. When the larvae have fully grown, they let go and attach to the bottom of the river where they develop into finished mussels. Not far from More Kastell is located Mörlunda-Tveta homestead - Blåbärskullen

A visit to the ravine is not entirely harmless, it is important to keep an eye on the children in the hills. A visit here is always done at your own risk. Read more at More Kastell on Wikipedia.
