Just west of Hultsfred is the nature and short-fishing area Stora Hammarsjö area. The area is an eldorado for all anglers. There is also an interesting fauna and flora here. In some places you can find nature with a Norrland character such as dwarf birch and hornbeam. The area also has a rich wildlife. The area is covered by 400 ha of water spread over approx. 25 lakes and ponds. The area is a collaboration between Hultsfred municipality, Södra, private landowners and the fishing club SFK Kroken.
Fishing
Out of the 25 lakes, three lakes have implanted noble fish. A high class fishing. At Stora Hammarsjön, Välen and Djupsjön there are handicap bridges that make it easier for you who are in a wheelchair or for small children to fish from the jetty. At many of the lakes there are shelters, barbecue areas, jetties and boat rentals. Wilderness camping is available throughout the area. Anyone who wants to spend a day in the shade of a metro can do it, perch and pike there are plenty.
Cottages
In the area, there are a total of nine cabins for rent. Everything from small fishing huts to family cottages. Or why not rent the island cabin. A cottage on its own island in Stora Hammarsjön.

Wonderful hike around the lake. We started from the parking lot at the swimming area and followed the trail clockwise. You walk a few kilometers on dirt roads and the rest on nice forest paths. A little hilly in some places.
Fantastic hike around the lake. I loved the feeling under my feet as I walked the trail. The view is fantastic and you are in a quiet nature. Haven't seen any so it's the perfect place to relax and collect some good thoughts.
An incredible hike, with a varied ecosystem! We hike often but this one was amazing! Somewhere halfway we could even swim and we did! we did it with our baby on our backs! We drove both yellow and red trail😍💯

Fishing
There are also three handicap jetties in the area that make it easier for you who are in a wheelchair or for smaller children to fish from the jetty. The fishing area is the result of a collaboration between Hultsfred Municipality, Södra, other landowners and SFK Kroken. SFK Kroken is the fishing club that is responsible for the sale of fishing licenses, fishing care and fisheries promotion etc. At many of the lakes there are shelters, barbecue areas, jetties and boat rentals.
