Fröreda Storegård from the 1700th century is one of Kalmar County's building memories.

The farm complex with its maintained building condition that clearly shows the character of a Småland farmer village from the 1700th century is unique.

The interior with original details such as the preserved hand-painted wallpaper and paintings gives a picture of 200 years of style history.

The farm's original buildings were in the traditional 1600th-century style, low-rise houses with wooden roofs. - three-parted ceilings where the center portion is horizontal and the side portions slope downwards. The original Fröreda village consisted of 38 buildings and was completed in the beginning of the 1600th century, dating back to the 1540s, when Lasse Börjesson settled and began to use the farm. He came to live on the farm for ten years. However, the entire village was destroyed by a violent fire in October 1683 when three of four farms burned down.

After the fire, Storegården was rebuilt with four adjoining single houses or twin cottages as they are also called. The twin cottages are built together two by two as twin houses. In the yard there are also two timbered attic sheds with external stairs and attic corridor, two smaller shack sheds from the beginning of the 1700th century, and two exceptional cottages from the 1800th century.

In one of the single cabins there are well-preserved hand-painted wallpapers and murals in the 1700th century style. The houses represent a genuine Småland timber building art and the farm still has the character of a Småland farm from the 1700th century.

As late as the beginning of the 1900th century, Fröreda Storegård consisted of some forty economy buildings. In connection with the change of ownership, the farm was demolished, a large number of buildings decayed and demolished during the 1920s.

The name Fröreda comes from the name of the god Frö, the Nordic fertility god.

Think, that it can take 17 years, to discover a gem next door ... If you settle in the area, it will be "I can look at it at any time" - & so it will not be ... But now it happened , finally🍀 WELL WORTH a visit, a detour on the holiday trip: Like a veritable time travel, full of atmosphere and a completely genuine feeling! All credit to those who have so reverently preserved this cultural heritage❣️🙏

Probably more fun in the summer. Now you mostly had to check out the old houses from the outside.

Closed during the week despite the season. No opening hours are specified. A shame.
