The Lasse-Maja cave or the Great Lassa Chamber has an exciting story to tell.

In this cave, the people of Klövdala village sought shelter from the Danes in 1612. According to another not entirely credible statement, it is claimed that this cave would have been a hiding place for Lasse-Maja, the thief in women's clothes. Whatever the truth, it is known that under this boulder people have been hiding.

During the Kalmar War in 1612, the village was burned down by the Danes. The Klavvedalabas managed to be killed by the Danes by hiding in the Stora Lassa Chamber. It is hidden under a cutting block and houses two spacious chambers. With the help of a ladder you can get down to the underground housing. In a fixed letter in parchment from the Thing in Målilla in 1614, it is mentioned that those who lived in Klövdala got new fast (law speed) since the old documents appeared in the war with the Danes.

Lars Molin (1785-1845) from Ramsberg in Västmanland did a series of theft tours through the country. He was dressed as a woman, hence the name Lasse-Maja, and escaped in the long arms of the longest team. During one of these raids, it is said that he had his haunt in the cave.

According to Edvard Matz, who has dealt with Lasse-Maya's life in two books, he was never active in this part of Sweden, but lived in the Mälardals area.

After stealing the church silver in Järfälla church, Lasse-Maja was sentenced to life imprisonment at Karlsten's fortress in Marstrand in 1813. He was pardoned 22 years later.

During his imprisonment, he wrote his life story "Lasse-Maja's strange adventure".

Awesome cave, easy to reach (300 m from the parking lot). Read on wikipedia about Lasse Maja, a really exciting story! However, it is uncertain whether he has really been there. However, it is true that the people in Klövdala village sought refuge in the cave from the Danes in 1612.

Very bad 2 signs pointing in the forest about 2m apart How far into the forest to go I do not know Probably one of the above signs would point out where the cave is in the forest Some lazy guy apparently thought it was possible to put up both signs together I did not see any cave despite a good walk in the forest Rating 0 for this attraction No info about LasseM available! There is no information on how far it is to go! Where to park?

A short walk (10 min) into the forest. Cave to climb into but no more. Some smaller gravel floor to park on would have been desirable.

A little unclear with where to park the car. No sign with how far in you would go the forest path the last bit. Otherwise really cool to see.
